Chinese communities around the globe are preparing to launch their New Year, the most important holiday in the Chinese calendar. Starting from this Saturday, the many fabulous celebrations will commence, this year being the Year of the Rooster. The New Year is celebrated through parades, dragon dances, elaborate dinners and most importantly, family reunions. A top tip is that Red clothing is considered essential (to scare off the mythical dragon- Nian)!!!! This long festival has different “activities” everyday and “Yuan Xiao” the Lantern Festival on Day 15 marks the final day of the traditional CNY celebrations, where red Chinese lanterns are released beautifully into the sky. Here’s our guide to dressing for different events that take place during the festival.
Remember, red & gold are key.
Wanting a more subtle look to celebrate the festival ? Have you thought of a red lip? This will implement your look- and all you’ll need is a red lippy (which you probably already have in your makeup drawer). Put your lipstick on, then stack on some gold bracelets and you’ll be good to go.
